Tri County Tech student Jack Settle was recently named the Downtown Kiwanis Club March Student of the Month.
Settle is a junior at Bartlesville High School and is in the Graphic Communications program at Tri County Tech. According to his instructor, Susan Peterson, Settle is an eager learner who readily volunteers to help with both the challenging and mundane tasks that others in his class pass up. “While others seem to not be motivated, Jack is driven to make the most of his time [using] any extra time in class to edit photos or work on his blog. He is gracious to help his classmates when they need help.”
Settle owns his own photography business (Jack Settle Photography), and runs the photography blog www.goshootstuff.com. His photography work has been featured online in The Telegraph, Daily Mail, Independent, BBC, The Biologist, and more. He is a house photographer for the BOK and has photographed notable musicians such as Green Day, Coldplay, Twenty One Pilots, Lil Wayne, 2 Chainz, and more. He has also received press passes to the Tulsa rallies of Donald Trump, Bernie Sanders, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio as well as to many concerts.
Settle’s list of accomplishments is distinguished, including being named Society of Biology’s 2013 Young Photographer of the Year where he traveled to London to accept the award. He was also accepted into the renowned Oklahoma Summer Arts Institute (OSAI) at Quartz Mountain for photography in the summer of 2016. He has won multiple state journalism awards and is a member of the BHS student council and National Honor Society.
Settle is active in the local community, leading worship every week for Grace Community Church’s youth group as well as K-Life. He helped organize a spook walk fundraiser to benefit the family of a Bartlesville High School student who passed away in 2016 and also assisted with the Kiddie Park’s Spook-O-Rama event. He will be a page for Representative Travis Dunlap at the Oklahoma State Capitol in April.
