Security officers maintain safe and secure environments for customers and employees by patrolling and monitoring premises and personnel. Normal duties of a security guard include monitoring surveillance equipment, inspecting buildings, permitting or preventing entrance, and directing traffic. Many guards also inform visitors/customers of policies and procedures, prevent loss and/or damage, complete accident/loss reports, and patrol property.
This course gives students basic training required by Oklahoma law to pass certification for unarmed security guards. The course covers interpreting the Oklahoma Security Guard Act, performing first aid techniques, operating a fire extinguisher and firefighting equipment, writing field notes and reports, interpreting legal powers and limitations, public relations, interacting with Fire and Police Departments, performing fixed post duties, patrolling, and investing security incidents.
