Domestic Abuse in Later Life


Course Description

Domestic abuse in later life is elder abuse within the family setting. Domestic abuse in later life includes physical, mental, sexual, and financial abuse of older adults. Information from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office for Victims of Crime will be presented. This information includes videos to illustrate the experiences of victims of domestic abuse in later life. The dynamics of abuse, the barriers to living free from abuse, and interventions will be discussed. Caution: the real-life videos may be disturbing to some persons.
