Accuplacer | Frequently Asked Questions
When is the Accuplacer Test given?
Testing is done every Tuesday and Thursday on a walk-in basis starting at 8:00 am. No tests will be given after 2:00 pm. If you need an evening appointment, please call Tonya Anna at 918.331.3226.
Why do we have to take the Accuplacer Test?
Anyone interested in attending a program at TCT must complete the ACCUPLACER Assessment.
Will you accept my ACT score?
ACT Scores may be substituted for ACCUPLACER if it has been taken no more than two years prior to admission. ACCUPLACER or ACT Scores can be considered up to two years from admission.
What if I need accommodations?
Call Tonya Anna, Assessment Specialist, at 918.331.3226 for arrangements prior to testing.
What will happen the day of testing?
You will pay $20 before taking the ACCUPLACER test and must have photo ID on the day of testing, or no admittance! You will receive your scores right after you finish your test. At that time, you will be advised of your scores and will meet with an Enrollment Advisor for guidance on the program of your choice. The whole process may take up to three hours to complete.
What is the Accuplacer and how are the scores used?
ACCUPLACER is an untimed, computerized test that helps the school evaluate your skills and place you into the appropriate course. ACCUPLACER is not used like a traditional test. There is generally no “passing score.” Rather, ACCUPLACER scores indicate areas in which you are strong and areas in which you may need help. Thus, ACCUPLACER can identify problems in major subject areas before they disrupt your educational progress, giving you the opportunity to prepare more effectively for needed courses. You and your institution can use scores from ACCUPLACER tests to prepare a course of study that will be appropriate, relevant, and meaningful for you.
Can I retake the test?
You will only be asked to retest if the Enrollment Advisor feels you need to for the program of your choice. The first retest is free, and if you elect to take another retest after that, you will be charged $10 per retest. You will be asked to remediate before retesting and will have to wait at least two weeks between tests.
Where is the assessment center?
The Assessment/Testing Center is located by the main office. If you have further questions, please contact Tonya Anna, Assessment Specialist, at 918.331.3226 or email@example.com.
Is there a study guide to prepare me for the accuplacer?
Yes; go to www.collegeboard.org/accuplacer, and proceed to the Next-Generation Arithmetic and Next-Generation Reading. If you are interested in TCT’s LPN program, you will also want to take the Next-Generation Writing.
