High School Student of the Month
Tri County Tech student, Elise Ward, was recently named the Downtown Kiwanis Club’s High School Student of the Month for February. Ward, a Bartlesville High School senior, is currently enrolled in the Pre Engineering program and will graduate May 2020.
“I really love that we do a variety of projects in Pre-Engineering,” Ward said. “They are very immersive and you can play around with them a lot.”
Ward said she has always been interested in engineering as a career, considering both of her parents are engineers. Even at an early age, she wrote in her journals that she would like to pursue a career in the field of aerospace engineering.
In addition to the Pre Engineering program, Ward is involved at both her high school and in her community. She is a member of the FIRST robotics team and TSA. Additionally, she tutors students in math and science. Prior to moving to Oklahoma, she was a member of the Kern County Honor Choir in California.
“Ward is a very motivated learner,” said Kendall Baker, Pre Engineering Instructor at TCT. “She is always willing to help other students when they need help. She is someone I know I can put on a project and not worry about her or watch over every second of the way.”
Upon graduation, Ward plans to attend Oklahoma State University and obtain her Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, and would ideally like to work for NASA, SpaceX or Boeing.
