Prerequisites

Certified Nurse Aide | CNA

96 Hours

Start your healthcare career as a CNA in just a few short weeks! Nurse Aide Certification is required prior to enrolling in the Practical Nursing program. As a certified nursing assistant, you will be able to work in various environments. Nursing homes, hospitals, adult daycare centers, personal homes, and assisted living facilities all require nursing aides to act as a helpful liaison between the RN or LPN and the patient.

Program Overview

Our hybrid Practical Nursing program is designed for flexibility, allowing working adults to progress at their own pace. This hybrid program features self-directed online coursework paired with in‑person clinicals, skills labs, and instructor‑supervised check‑offs. Students can complete the program in 12 or 18 months.

While most coursework is completed online, students are required to attend a scheduled weekly on-campus session (up to 3 hours) to support progress and engagement with faculty. Additional in-person time will also be required for hands-on skill development, clinical check-offs, or lab-based instruction. With small class sizes and one-on-one faculty support, students receive mentorship, clinical guidance, and academic coaching throughout the program. Exams and skill check-offs are self-scheduled, giving students the freedom to move through the curriculum efficiently and graduate as soon as they meet all requirements.

Students must have regular access to a computer and a reliable internet connection to participate in the hybrid Practical Nursing program. Tri County Tech will provide a chromebook and internet access for students who need them. Basic computer skills are essential for success in the Hybrid Practical Nursing program. If you’re unsure of your readiness, you can complete our Technology Assessment: Internet Basics to evaluate your comfort with common digital tools and tasks.

Graduates of the program are eligible to sit for the National Council of State Boards Licensing Exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). The program is approved by the Oklahoma Board of Nursing and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN).
