Program Overview

Unlock exciting career opportunities in Oklahoma’s second-largest industry—aviation—through the Aviation Maintenance and Drones Program at Tri County Tech! This hands-on program allows students to dive into two dynamic areas of aviation: Aviation Maintenance and Drone Technology. You’ll work through the Choose Aerospace curriculum, which provides a foundation for students to obtain a job working as an unlicensed mechanic. Then, after 18 months of employment, you will qualify to sit for either the Airframe or the Powerplant certification exam. In addition, you’ll get the chance to become a licensed commercial drone pilot by taking the FAA Part 107 test, with the cost fully covered by Tri County Tech. Whether you dream of working on aircraft or you’re fascinated by flying drones, this program gives you the skills and certifications needed to kickstart your career in the growing field of aviation!

*Students must pass a drug screening and be 18 years of age to be employed by the FAA.

The Aviation Maintenance & Drones program:

  • Promotes science, technology, engineering, and math skills that prepare you for a future in aviation.
  • Supports the development of technology skills future-focused employers desire.
  • Develops critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Offers the opportunity to earn the FAA Part 107 license which will allow applicants to enter the military at a higher pay rate, entering as an E2 rather than an E1.
“I like the environment here. It feels like actual work experience.” – Drew C.
