The Ultimate Sport for the Mind!
Do you know how to program software, use a drill, screwdriver, saw, and set up electronics? Don’t worry! You will learn these skills and more from skilled mentors from the engineering field right here in your community! While you have fun learning new skills, you will also have the opportunity to earn some of the $80 million in scholarships made available to FIRST participants.
FIRST Robotics
Under strict rules and limited time and resources, teams of high school students are challenged to build industrial-size robots to play a difficult field game in alliance with other teams while also fundraising to meet their goals, designing a team “brand,” and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community.
If you are considering a career in the STEM field, you don’t want to miss being a part of the Tri County Tech Robotics Team. You’ll learn first-hand about science, math, engineering, and technology while getting hands-on experience and working as a team to resolve problems.
Each year, students work together for months to plan, design, build, and program a 120 lb robot from scratch. The robot will compete in contests like soccer, basketball, frisbee, tennis, and more, following a standard set of rules.
Since 2007, the Tri County Tech Robotics Team students and mentors have been working together starting in September to design and build robots to compete against Oklahoma teams and other states the next spring. FIRST Robotics competitions allow students to work on real-world engineering skills and lead them to STEM careers. FIRST has a proven impact on learning, interest, and skill-building inside and outside of the classroom. History
FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) was founded in 1989 by accomplished inventor Dean Kamen. Kamen wanted to inspire an appreciation of science and technology in young people. FIRST designs innovative programs to help build confidence, knowledge, and life skills while motivating students to pursue science, technology, and engineering opportunities. Hosted worldwide and supported by three out of every five Fortune 500 companies, FIRST teams consist of over 91,000 students, and 25,000 mentors from 27 countries.
